Interact

Central Decatur High School has an Interact Club! This club was established in 2019 and functioned through the 2020 school year. It just started back up this year due to COVID-19 shutting it down. Interact offers young people the opportunity to participate in meaningful service projects, develop leadership skills, and make a positive impact in their communities and around the world. Interact clubs organizes at least two projects every year, one that helps their school or community and one that promotes international understanding. In simpler terms Interact is the high school version of Rotary.

Trunk or Treat

The Interact club made care packages during Halloween for their local healthcare workers in Leon, IA. A few of the things that were included were lotion, hand sanitizer, hair ties, facial tissues, gum, etc.

Art Commissions

Currently an active project, Interact Club has asked the local nursing home residents for things they like and/or enjoy and has volunteered to draw and paint  for them. These gifts are meant to give the residents a more homey atmosphere in their living quarters, and for artistic students to share their work.

Going hand in hand with the Rotary Club's coat project, Interact students wanted to continue with the warm and cozy gifts. Hosting a donation drive, they were able to collet all sorts of sizes for elementary to high school students.

Helping Sort Cans

One of the important projects Rotary does is Cans For Kids, this donation project helps Rotary with many of their service ventures for the community, including the Coat Project. Interact students wanted to help Rotary members sort the cans as they collect a lot throughout the year.
